Smoker Modifications

Building a Smoker-Grill Page 3
Now
I am going to make an ash tray out of the left over cookie tray I cit off
earlier. It will be a bit small but it’ll do for now. First I notch the ends,
then bend up the back side and finally bend the steel rod around to hold it I
place. It’s not pretty but it’ll do for now.
I
really want to use this thing so I’m going to make a quick and dirty baffle by
cutting a piece of aluminum, making a tab to insert between the firebox and the
smoke chamber and bend to the shape of the smoke hole.
Time
to put smoke to this beast and see what it does! We have fire! I seasoned it
again using lump charcoal for about an hour, to season the new pieces I
installed today. The only lump I could find was Cowboy Lump from Home Depot so
that’s what I’m using. Also using large hickory chunks I cut off of fire wood
using my table saw. Hey it worked!
Woo Hoo I’m running a stick burner!
Stay tuned for more improvements that are sure to come!
